Our Hamsters
Not all of the hamsters that arrive at the rescue are put up for adoption. Any hamsters who are elderly, have on-going medical problems or behavioural problems stay at the rescue for the rest of their lives. This is done in the best interest of the hamsters we take on, some may have had traumatic pasts and so moving to another home isn't ideal for them. As we are only a small rescue this can mean that we don't always have hamsters up for adoption, but often we will have permanent residents. This page is dedicated to the hamsters, past and present, to whom the rescue became a final safe haven.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon arrived as one of three hamsters who were abandoned alongside other animals, once their owner had left the home and not returned for them. On arrival all three hamsters were living in a horrific state. Cinnamon was the only one of these three not to be adopted. The decision for her to remain a permanent resident was made when we realised that she had problems with her eyesight, and felt it was best that she remains in a familiar setting.
Dot
Dot arrived as an older hamster who had lived in a smaller cage all of her life. She was handed over when her student owner couldn't take her away, and was going to hand her over to another student but instead decided to give her to someone with more experience. Now, Dot is getting on well in her larger cage. She is friendly but prefers interaction whilst still in the cage rather than being taken out.
Rainbow Bridge
Below is a slideshow dedicated to some of the previous rescues, who passed away whilst in the care of the rescue. Some have passed due to old age, others due to medical conditions or for unknown reasons. Some of the hamsters below weren't at the rescue for very long before their passing, however, they were able to experience a better life here with us.
